About the Artist

Rachel Le Roux

I'm a British-Filipina artist and interior architect based in Manila, and for me painting has always been a process of renewal. I trained at Chelsea College of Art and Design in London and spent over a decade working in architecture and design and somewhere along the way those same instincts — the way space, texture and atmosphere speak to each other — found their way onto canvas. I work between two worlds: figurative paintings that explore the female form, the way fabric moves, the quiet stories hidden in gesture, and abstracts built from paint remnants left behind in the studio. Both feel like the same conversation. About transformation, about what remains, about the beauty of something breaking open and becoming whole again.

“She — whoever she may be — is at the heart of my work.”

The figuratives are where space is held; the abstracts are the traces she leaves behind.
